Summary

Data are presented concerning changes in the rate of consumption of different-size-fractions of the natural surface plankton in mass species of copepods as dependent on the dynamic activity of waters in the north-western part of the Tropical Atlantic. It is shown that with low concentrations of micro-plankton typical of the surface waters in a considerable part of the water area under study, the rations of animals are low (1— 10% of the body weight). Higher concentrations of phyto- and micro-zooplankton are observed in zones with more intensive vertical circulation (a cyclonic vortex and a junction of differently directed flows, that has made the nutrition intensity 5—10 times higher.
